Is it the end of Microsoft Dynamics GP? Major Announcement!
Microsoft has recently announced that the services of Microsoft Dynamics GP will end in 2026. But here is a catch for existing users.
We all know that Microsoft Dynamics GP is a powerful ERP solution capable of streamlining the finance and accounting operations of small and medium-sized businesses.
But the sheer shift towards modern technological advancement and complex business processes becomes the top reason for ending the services of Dynamics GP, also known as Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
Recently, Microsoft announced the end of Dynamics GP sales to new customers starting at the start of the second quarter of 2023.
Microsoft will stop offering perpetual licences for Dynamics GP and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central on-premises server deployments in October 2025. Also, Microsoft will end the sale of new subscription licences in October 2026.
If you are an existing user of any of these applications, there is nothing to worry about (for at least the next 3 years).
Till 2026, you will receive important updates containing bug fixes, security, usability, government regulatory, and patch updates as well. Plus, you have enough time to choose the perfect solution as a replacement for Dynamics GP.
“For Keeping the Dynamic GP up to date, we are here to provide security updates, and regulatory updates and here to fix bugs in it. Also, we will continue to offer usability and reliability updates to existing users to ensure the smooth working of Dynamics GP. “

Dynamics GP Support End Timeline
Microsoft offers different kinds of support to its users:
Mainstream support: Microsoft offers mainstream support for almost 5 years after the purchase of the service or product. During this tenure, you will get updates related to bug fixes, service packs, patches, and other essential updates.
Like, Microsoft is going to launch an update in October 2023 of Dynamics GP to improve the tax capabilities in mainstream support.
Extended Support: Once the mainstream support ends, the extended support ends, and the tenure usually lasts for up to 5 years. In this update, Microsoft releases security, usability, and reliability updates so that you can keep working with the product with optimum performance.
Once both of these supports end, you can avail yourself of paid support from any of the Microsoft Certified Gold Partners.

Dynamics GP Roadmap
Microsoft has confirmed its commitment to uphold the Dynamics GP lifecycle roadmap, which shows support for the software through at least 2028, even though the sale of new Dynamics GP licenses will gradually end. Even though Microsoft has pledged to continue supporting Dynamics GP through 2028, it is obvious that Microsoft R&D is moving away from Dynamics GP in favor of the Dynamics 365 family of cloud-based products. The majority of Dynamics GP updates will focus on bug fixes, tax, and regulatory updates.

Till 2026, the existing users will be able to purchase additional user licensees as required.
